Amazon has announced a game streaming service called Luna. Subscriptions to the service initially cost 6 euros per month, but this is an introductory price and the service can only be used in the US for the time being. There is also a controller with Alexa support.

Luna will be available for Fire TV, PC and Mac, and for the iPhone and iPad through web apps. Android support will follow. Windows 10 is required for the PC and OS X 10.13 for the Mac. Amazon lists the Chrome browser version 83 or later as the browser on which the service works on PC and Mac, and Safari for the iPhone and iPad. The internet connection must be at least 10Mbit / s, or 35Mbit / s to game in 4k.

For the early access price of $ 6 per month, users subscribe to a Luna + channel. For that amount, they can game on up to two devices simultaneously at 4k at 60fps, with games that support this. The Luna + channel’s collection consists of more than a hundred games, including Resident Evil 7, Control, Panzer Dragoon, A Plague Tale: Innocence, The Surge 2, Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, and Iconoclasts.

In addition, there will be a Ubisoft channel for an as yet unknown amount. It will offer games such as Assassins Creed Valhalla, Far Cry 6 and Immortals Fenyx Rising, from the day of those games’ release. According to Amazon, there will be more game channels from publishers and genres.

Luna Controller

Amazon is announcing the Luna Controller along with the service. It connects via Wi-Fi, and then to the game servers, something that Amazon Cloud Direct calls. This would limit latency and allow users to easily switch devices without having to pair again. The controller can also work via Bluetooth or USB for offline play. The Luna service also works with keyboard and mouse, and with Bluetooth controllers, including the Xbox One and DualShock 4 controllers. The controller costs $ 50 and that is also an introductory price.

Amazon is competing with Google Stadia and Geforce NOW with the service. The company deploys its own AWS Game Servers and there is also integration of Twitch, such as starting Luna directly from Twitch.
