Amazon Game Studios is cutting the jobs of dozens of employees. Games would also have been cancelled. Amazon’s game division reorganization aims to prioritize New World and Crucible development.

The company confirms the reorganization to Kotaku and says it will implement it to prioritize development of the New World and Crucible games, as well as unannounced projects from Amazon. Amazon has also reportedly canceled unannounced games, but the company is not saying anything about that. It is not clear which games are involved.

Last week, Amazon Game Studios told dozens of affected employees that they have 60 days to search for another position within Amazon. If that fails, the company will pay the employees severance pay. Amazon declined to say exactly how many employees were affected.

Amazon’s gaming division was founded in 2014, after which it acquired game studio Double Helix. In 2016, the Amazon Lumberyard engine was released, which is based on Crytek’s CryEngine. Amazon has previously scrapped games. For example, it announced the multiplayer game Breakaway in 2016 and stopped development in 2018.
