Dell has given its Alienware m15 and m17 a new look that resembles that of the Area 51M. The laptops also get new processors and video cards. The cheaper G3 gaming laptop also gets new hardware and a new design.

The new Alienware m15 and m17 can be recognized by the lighter colored housing than that of their predecessors and the new Intel processors. The housing is made of a magnesium alloy and both laptops can be equipped with a Core i9-9980HK processor and 16GB of RAM in the fastest variant. The m15 and m17 can both be run with one or two SSDs and they can then also be put in raid-0. The largest SSD that Dell provides is 2TB in size, which provides a total of up to 4TB of storage. The GPU is a GTX 1650, GTX 1660 Ti, RTX 2060, RTX 2070 Max-Q or an RTX 2080 Max-Q.

The m15 can be supplied with an OLED screen with 4k resolution, but there is also the option of a regular full-HD screen, with a refresh rate of 60 or 240Hz. With the m17, the maximum refresh rate is 144Hz. New to Alienware laptops is Tobii’s built-in eye tracking capability. We see the functionality every now and then with gaming laptops, but it doesn’t seem to have broken through yet.

Finally, Dell presents the G3 for gamers with a smaller budget. According to Dell, the laptop has been completely redesigned and focused on good cooling of the components. This is done, among other things, with the help of Game Shift software, which can ensure that the fans run faster with, for example, games or heavy software, so that the cpu and gpu do not have to clock back as quickly.

Dell does not mention Euro prices yet, but in the US the Alienware m15 and m17 will go on sale from June 11 for a starting price of $1500 with both models. The G3 15 will be available on May 28 for a starting price of $800.
