Acer seems to be working on a new Chromebook, which will be based on the Nvidia Tegra K1 chip. The arrival of the laptop with a 13.3 “screen and the Chrome OS was revealed by a web store, but the manufacturer itself has not released anything yet.

The suspected new Chromebook with Chrome OS from Acer appeared in the Swedish web store of Komplett, Android Police discovered. The model is called CB5 and features the Tegra K1, an Nvidia soc primarily intended for use in mobile devices. Google recently announced a tablet with this soc for its Project Tango, but few products with Nvidia’s Tegra K1 chip have been released so far.

The Nvidia soc has four Cortex A15 cores with a clock speed of 2.3GHz and a fifth, lower clocked core that can be used for tasks that require little processing power. A 64-bit version based on the ARMv8 instruction set that has two cores has also been developed.

Furthermore, the CB5 has a 13.3 “screen with ‘HD’ resolution. There is 4GB ram on board and 32GB storage memory. Most details about the specifications of the Chromebook have now been removed from the web store, but according to Android Police, there are two USB 3.0 ports, a 3.5mm connection and an Ethernet connection.

It is not yet known what the new Chromebook from Acer will cost. The release is likely to take place on August 1, if Komplett’s information is correct. Acer itself recently announced that another Chromebook will be released with a processor from Intel’s Bay Trail series.
