Acer Introduces Mobile Workstation with Ezel Hinge and Wood Grain Desktop

Acer announced a new laptop and desktop under its ConceptD brand at CES. The ConceptD 7 Ezel is equipped with a striking hinge, with which the screen can be set in five positions. The ConceptD 700 is a desktop system that can be equipped with an Intel Xeon processor and Nvidia Quadro RTX 4000 video card.

ConceptD is Acer’s brand of systems for creative users. The ConceptD 7 Ezel responds to this. The laptop has a screen that is equipped with Gorilla Glass 6 on which users can write with an included Wacom stylus. Acer first used the ‘donkey’ hinge on the 2013 Aspire R7. The ConceptD 7’s display has a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels and a maximum brightness of 400cd/m². The panel is calibrated to the Adobe rgb color space and should have an ΔE deviation of less than 2.

The hardware consists of a tenth generation Intel H processor. Intel has not yet officially announced this processor with a tdp of 45 watts, but according to Acer, that would happen soon. The previous generation of Intel H processors consisted of CPUs with four, six and eight cores. There is also a GeForce RTX GPU, up to 32GB of DDR4 memory and an SSD of up to 2TB in size. Acer also comes with a ConceptD 7 Pro, which is equipped with an Intel Xeon processor and an Nvidia Quadro, instead of a GeForce GPU. The ConceptD 7 Ezel is available from April in the Benelux from 2500 euros, the Pro version costs at least 3000 euros.

In addition to the easel-hinged laptop, Acer is also releasing a desktop workstation in the ConceptD series. The ConceptD 700 has a wood grain appearance and is said to produce 40dB(A) of noise, although Acer does not state at what load that is. On the top of the housing is a coil for wireless charging of peripherals. The ConceptD 700 is available from March in the Benelux from 2200 euros.
