Acer will release a new version of its Predator Triton 500 at the end of May. The gaming laptop gets a Comet Lake-H processor and up to an RTX 2080 Super Max-Q GPU. A new version of the Nitro 5 will follow at the end of June, with a maximum of a GeForce RTX 2060.

Exactly which processor will be in the Predator Triton 500, Acer does not report. In any case, it concerns 45W CPUs from the Comet Lake-H series, which Intel announced on Thursday. The top model in that series is the Core i9-10980HK with eight cores and a turbo speed of up to 5.3GHz.

Acer equips the Triton 500 with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Super or 2070 Super. In both cases, it concerns the economical Max-Q versions. Nvidia announced the new laptop GPUs on Thursday. They have slightly more Cuda cores than the previous versions without Super designation and more economical gddr6 memory.

The laptop’s 15.6″ screen has an IPS panel with a maximum refresh rate of 300Hz and a response time of 3ms. The screen can display the full sRGB color space and has G-Sync. The housing is 17.9mm thick and weighs 2.1kg.

According to Acer, the cooling of the Triton 500 has been improved, partly through the use of five heat pipes and three fans. The manufacturer claims a battery life of up to 7.5 hours. At the end of May, the 2020 version of the Predator Triton 500 will be released for a price from 2299 euros. It is not yet known which configuration buyers will receive for that amount.

The new version of the Acer Nitro 5 will get up to a Core i7 processor of the Comet Lake-H generation. The GPU is a GeForce RTX 2060, GTX 1650 Ti or GTX 1650. There will be models with 144Hz and 120Hz panels. In both cases, these are 15.6″ IPS panels. The cooling of the Nitro 5 has also been improved, according to Acer. The gaming laptop has two fans and four openings for heat dissipation. From the end of May, the new Nitro 5 will be on sale for a price from 1149 euros.
