9to5Mac shows leaked renders of iPhone 15 Pro with USB-C
Renders of the iPhone 15 Pro have appeared online. They are said to be based on CAD files provided by a phone case maker and published by 9to5Mac. The device has rounder corners, cameras that protrude more and a USB-C port.
The accessory factory from China has the CAD files according to 9to5Mac received from Apple. The factories need to get the files in time so that they can have their goods ready for the new phones. In addition, it is important that the shape of the device matches the files, in order to make well-fitting accessories.
If the device does indeed have a USB-C port instead of Lightning, that would be a big change. Apple has been using the Lightning connector since 2012, when it was introduced with the iPhone 5. USB-C is already present in iPads, MacBooks and the Apple TV, for example. Inverse published in November an overview of Apple products that have not yet switched to USB-C. The European Parliament requires the use of USB-C in small electronics from the end of 2024.
Apart from the port, the corners of the device are much rounder and the bezels thinner. The glass on the front would even give a little in the ‘turn’ around the corner, but that’s hard to see on the renders. The Dynamic Island appears to be the same size as its predecessor.
