9 things you need to know about the new iPhone XS
The new flagship of Apple is called the iPhone XS. An interesting device, because it is not only better than the current flagship, but it would also be cheaper. Apple is already presenting the successor to the iPhone X on Wednesday, September 12 during the Apple event. Thanks to leaked photos and reliable rumors, we already have a good picture of the flagship of 2018.

On September 12, Apple is very likely presenting three new iPhones. The first device is a cheap, iPhone X-like keyboard: the iPhone 9 . In addition, Apple releases two OLED models, known as the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Plus
1. Name
The name of the iPhone was long guessing. In the rumor mill there was talk about the iPhone XI, iPhone 11 and iPhone 2018. But none of that: the new iPhone is called the iPhone XS (pronounced as iPhone ten S), so ensures the reliable 9to5Mac.
2. Design iPhone XS
The successor of the iPhone X seems in all its predecessor. The screen covers the entire front of the device, with only a minimal edge around it. At the top the much-discussed notch is present, in which the innovative TrueDepth camera is processed.
Thanks to a leaked product photo (see photo above) we already have a good picture of the iPhone XS.
3. Screen size
The iPhone XS comes in two sizes. The first version of 5.8-inch is the same size as the iPhone X and measures 143.6 mm x 70.9 mm with a thickness of 7.7 mm. The resolution would also remain the same with 2436 x 1125 pixels and a pixel density of 458.
In addition, an iPhone with the biggest screen ever: the iPhone XS Plus. It has a 6.5-inch screen. And yet it is not the biggest iPhone ever. According to rumors, the device is 167.53 mm x 77.44 mm with a thickness of 7.85 mm. And that is smaller than the iPhone 8 Plus (5.5-inch), which has much more edge.
4. New features
You do not have to expect any major new functions with the iPhone XS. The device is – as the name already gives away – an S-update. This means that the model is especially faster than the iPhone X and that it has a better camera.
5. Processor
The iPhone XS is equipped with a brand new processor: the A12 chip. It has a 7 nanometer design and is smaller, faster and more efficient than the A11 processor of the iPhone 8 and iPhone X. This should make it faster to open apps, while the more efficient cores ensure that the battery lasts longer.
6. Camera
In addition to the processor, the camera is the biggest improvement of the XS. It would be equipped with ‘significant’ camera improvements, according to Bloomberg last week. Unfortunately, the news site does not report what the specific camera enhancements are, so we will have to wait until the Apple keynote.
7. Colors
Unlike its predecessor, the iPhone XS is immersed in the gold. It would have golden stainless steel edges, with a black front. In addition, the device is available again in silver and spacegrijs.
8. Price iPhone XS
According to several analysts, the successor to the iPhone X will be cheaper than the iPhone X. In the US the price of the flagship would drop from 999 to 899 dollars.
9. Release iPhone XS
Pre-ordering is usually possible on the Friday after the keynote. The Apple keynote takes place on Wednesday, September 12, so this would mean that you can pre-order the iPhone XS on Friday, September 14th. One week later, on Friday 21 September, the new iPhones are actually in stores or delivered to your home.
